It wasn't the plan. But somewhere between the routing and the research, Banff fitted itself in — and what followed became the most miraculous journey our family had ever taken together.
The mountains were enormous. The trails were quiet. And everywhere we looked, people had brought their animals with them — dogs on the path, cats at the campsite, companions of every kind touching nature alongside the people who loved them most.
That image stayed with us. Not the mountains themselves, but what happened between them — the way an animal changes how a person moves through the world. Slower. More present. More alive.
Animals Camping began there, in that feeling.
